Our reserves
We harvest at two nature reserves in Antioquia, Colombia.
Bosque de Pedro
Jardín, Antioquia
Limited agrochemical exposure: the bees are in natural areas, though they may reach neighboring farms.
Species at this reserve:
- Western honey bee — Apis mellifera
- Scaptotrigona — Jardín — Scaptotrigona sp. 1
- Angelita stingless bee — Tetragonisca angustula
Species it protects:
- Magnolias
- Oaks (Quercus)
- Mountain birds
El Silencio Natural Reserve
Yondó, Antioquia
No agrochemicals: the bees are in natural areas where such products are not applied.
Species at this reserve:
- Western honey bee — Apis mellifera
- Frieseomelitta — Frieseomelitta spp.
- Scaptotrigona magdalenae — Scaptotrigona magdalenae
- Scaptotrigona — El Silencio — Scaptotrigona sp. 2
- Angelita stingless bee — Tetragonisca angustula
Species it protects:
- Blue-billed curassow (Crax alberti)
- Jaguar (Panthera onca)
- Brown spider monkey (Ateles hybridus)
